A New Chapter

After more than a decade of writing this blog, I've decided it's time to turn the page.

What began as a place to organize my thoughts became something far more meaningful. Writing has been cathartic, reflective, and deeply rewarding, but the greatest gift has been all of you. Thank you for reading, questioning, challenging ideas, and caring enough to speak up for the natural world. Your encouragement, curiosity, and thoughtful conversations have made this journey worthwhile.

Above all, my gratitude belongs to this extraordinary planet, the remarkable biodiversity of California, and the First Peoples whose thousands of years of stewardship and ecological knowledge continue to inspire us. Every day reminds me that we are part of something much larger than ourselves.

Although this is the end of my blog, it is not the end of my work. I'm shifting my focus from writing to connecting with people in person through presentations, workshops, facilitation, and community conversations. In an increasingly digital world shaped by artificial intelligence, I feel called to spend more time face to face, bringing people together, sharing ideas, and creating space for meaningful dialogue and collective action.

I'm especially excited to continue growing as a facilitator. I believe one of the most valuable roles at any training, conference, workshop, or community gathering is someone who helps people listen, learn, and move forward together. Whether you're organizing a neighborhood meeting or a large conference, I would be honored to help facilitate those conversations. Please don't hesitate to reach out.

My advocacy has always been for those without a human voice, from the burrowing owl and raptors soaring overhead to native plants, ancient trees, wetlands, pollinators, and the unseen microbes beneath our feet that make all life possible. Their stories deserve our attention, and their future depends on our willingness to act.

While these blog posts may be coming to an end, my writing journey is far from over. I currently have a book project in the pipeline that I hope to see published in the coming year. The booklet will introduce the Faith Forest Initiative I founded and provide a framework for faith communities seeking to cultivate deeper connection, canopy growth, and social equity.

I’m also recording the first episodes of a podcast I’ll be hosting, called The Arborist’s Compass, with the first episode scheduled to launch in the new year. I’m hopeful that this book and conversations will reach even more people than this blog ever could, allowing the message and vision behind this work to continue growing.

This is not goodbye. It's simply a new chapter. I hope our next conversation takes place around a conference table, on a trail, in a classroom, or at a community gathering. Thank you for walking this path with me over the past decade. I look forward to continuing the journey together, one conversation at a time.
